"Consider a tree for a moment.
As beautiful as trees are to look at, we don't see what goes on underground - as they grow roots. Trees must develop deep roots in order to grow strong and produce their beauty."

- Joyce Meyer

Approach

My approach to therapy centres the client as the experts in their own life. I strive to create a therapeutic environment that is an affirming space for diverse communities and identities including 2SLGBTQ, neurodivergent, and those experiencing challenges with mental health, substance use and addiction. The core of my work is creating a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients in order to create an environment in which you feel safer to dive into the things that may be holding you back, or that have left you feeling stuck. Together we will explore strategies, solutions, and try something different, with the goal of increasing resilience, and confidence. It is important to me that our work is strengths-based and healing-centred.

I strive to practice from an anti-racist & social-justice framework. I work to identify and focus how larger systems create and sustain privilege and power that create inequitable conditions for groups of people. In turn, I am dedicated to acknowledging and examining my role in upholding these systems, and ways that I can participate in their dismantling.

I am currently offering virtual or phone sessions in order to mitigate ongoing concerns of COVID-19.

Deep Roots Counselling is situated in Toronto, Ontario, lands that for millennia have been occupied by many First Nations including, the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples.  Today it is home to many diverse Indigenous, Inuit and Métis people.
Toronto is covered by Treaty 13, the Toronto Purchase and the Williams Treaty.

At Deep Roots Counselling I believe that it is crucial to not only acknowledge First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people for their care of this land, and teachings about the earth and our connection to it, but also to actively and intentionally honor those teachings through our relationships today and every day hereafter.
We commit to moving forward in the spirit of partnership, collaboration, and reconciliation, as we learn together and contemplate the possibilities that lie ahead.
